10 Jane Welzel (USA)
Jane Welzel was born on April 24th, 1955. She started running in 1975 at age 19, and soon became a fixture on the national road race scene. She finished five Olympic Marathon Trials and set her personal best of 2:33:01 in winning the 1992 Grandma’s Marathon. Unfortunately Jane passed away at age 59, after a brief battle with cancer.
