2 Potala Palace (Tibet, China)
The Potala Palace is located in Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. The palace is named after Mount Potalaka, it was the winter palace of the Dalai Lamas from 1649 to 1959, the 5th Dalai Lama started its construction in 1645.
The Palace is regarded as landmark and the symbol of Tibet. The main buildings of Potala Palace are situated on the Red Hill by the side of Lhasa River. It is not only a splendid place, but also a treasure house where you can see precious arts and learn Tibetan culture and history. Because of its brilliant arts and history, travelers see it as the No. 1 must-see attraction in Tibet.
